Avery 18

A good Saison for a non-Saison drinker, this ale leans towards a hoppy red with less of the fruity thickness of some Belgians.

Beginning: Good foam. Mildly hoppy aroma that sets up nicely for the set of flavors in the ale. 7/10

Middle: This ale pulls you in a few different directions, unfortunately at the same time. Like drinking a Saison that has been poured into a mellow IPA. The bubbles help break up the flavors- you'll get both bitter and sweet, with a touch of alcohol coming through. 6/10

End: Satisfied after two-and-a-half glasses. A drinkable Saison, particularly easy on an empty stomach. A good table-setting beer, which would be followed well with a strong IPA or a strong Saison. 6/10

Enjoyable, but not particularly memorable. 6.5/10

First post

Tonight we are giving our glasses to Sierra Nevada, and taking on their formidable stout. We've heard a lot about Sierra Nevada, and their beers are readily available, and ridiculously drinkable. So who better to toast on our first blog post?
